Elementary Faith Formation

This aspect of religious education encompasses grades K-6.

Classes are separated by grade and held on Sunday mornings from 9:15 for one hour, from September through May.

The catechetical objective is to provide the basic foundations for the understanding of our faith, building in understanding from one year to the next.

The primary catechetical resource used is Benzinger’s Share The Joy Parish Catechetical Program. This program provides both classroom and at-home components providing a well rounded faith formation experience. Additional minor resources are also used to enhance the educational process at this age level.

Children’s Liturgies are planned as part of this level for most months during the catechetical year. These are a special Mass that replaces the class for that day. They give the children an opportunity to share in the celebration with their classmates and understand the varous aspects of the Mass at their level.

Volunteers are welcome for positions of teacher, teacher aide, substitute teacher, children’s liturgy aide. If interested, please contact Fr. Colpitts or Deacon Paul Lissendrello at 793-2244.
